    わたしは以前、熊本市の町屋を改修をし、住んでいたことがありますが、その苦労はなかなかのものです。その苦労を乗り越えながら、こんなにも多くの茅葺屋根の民家が、江戸時代から変わらず連なっていることに、ただただ感動を覚えます。
