Shimogo Town Ouchi-juku at dusk Fukushima
During the Edo period, it prospered as a post town on an important road connecting Aizuwakamatsu City and Nikko Imaichi City.
Even now, private houses with thatched roofs are lined up along the highway, just like the Edo period, and in 1981 it was designated as a nationally selected important traditional buildings preservation district.
