Lake Towada Aomori
Lake Towada, which spans both Aomori and Akita prefectures, is a caldera lake formed by volcanic activity that began about 200,000 years ago. Lake Naka, which is located between the Mikura Peninsula and the Nakayama Peninsula, shows a depth of 327m, making it the third deepest spot in Japan. You can feel the tremendous energy of the eruption that scours the earth and the length of time it took to form it.
